Don't just check the home page, monitor visitor clicking!

Using the Firefox browser plugin DejaClick, we can record an actual set of actions in a browser and submit it to AlertSite for business transactional monitoring.

In the case of our client, Verilux, we created a set of steps to monitor the complete user experience from site arrival to checkout process that has 38 steps in it:

Select a Solar rechargeable flashlight and add it to the shopping cart
Checkout and insert a false credit card
Retreive properly formatted error message from the payment gateway

The process tests not only web pages being displayed, but also the site's SQL Server serving up data, the shopping cart (Miva Merchant) operations and their payment gateway, Authorize.net's communications.

This transaction is run every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, on 3 servers of our choosing around the world. Not only is site performance recorded (which helps us keep the ISP honest), but if an anomoly is picked up, AlertSite emails, text messages (SMS) and voicecalls the users, phones and email boxes of our choosing.
