BGI LLC approached VickeryHill.com with a not-so-unique request: we need a website up in a week that we can edit content, post to a blog and create a private partner login for future investors.

While rushing can often be a recipe for disaster, in this case, we made an exception for a highly-recommended new client.

With a logo, color scheme and an initial investment document, we 'broke ground' on a Rackspace CloudSite. In a matter of days we had WordPress installed, DIY's Thesis theme installed and pages beginning to bloom.

 

We modified their logo, created a basic header image and added functional pieces that could be expanded in the future, including a contact form, partner login, weather widget and blog functionality.

BGI LLC is starting their first project in Ghana sometime next year and VickeryHill, with Rackspace and WordPress, will be right there with them - digitally, that is.

WordPress & Thesis

When it comes to simplified content-managed website development, it doesn't get much more basic, yet functional, than WordPress.

Built on an original blogging engine, WordPress coupled with DIY's Thesis Theme is a fairly powerful content management system with a very large following. Not only are there thousands of developers using WordPress to build business websites, but there are multitudes of customizable plugins and widgets that can be added in short order to the existing structure.

We don't always love cookie cutter solutions because we often push them to the limits, but when push comes to shove, it's a nice tool to have in our utility belt.
