Andrew McClymont moved to the US in 2015 and decided to start a US ‘sister company’ of his sister’s growing Australia-based healthy foods business right here in Vermont. He made plans to utilize the Mad River Valley Food Hub for production of his healthy nut & seed mixes. He initially started out by introducing the product with demo days at various retail food stores in Vermont but wanted to sell the product to the consumer online as well.
We helped him acquire a domain, setup a Shopify storefront, created a broadcast email account with MailChimp, and then got down to business.
Andrew needed the ability to ship his product via the US Postal Service (USPS) as well as give affiliates access to send in referral traffic to earn rewards. He wanted to give a discount on postage for smaller orders, but not lose his shirt in the process. He wondered if, before a visitor left without buying (abandoned cart), he could offer them a discount code to try and entice 1st time buyers to stick around and complete the process. We set that up too.
We customized the site, setup his broadcast email lists and campaign designs, integrated analytics, created some minor branding elements alongside digital photography from Ember Photography, and launched his site in the spring of 2016.
He’s been emailing prospective and past customers, working Farmers Markets around central Vermont, and doing live demonstration/tastes at food stores. Sales are picking up. We’re now looking into alternative traffic sources like Adwords, Google Shopping, and Amazon.
